This workshop help you to understand your digital single lens reflex (DSLR) camera so that you can get the best pictures possible. You will learn what all the various settings on your camera mean and what effect they will have on your photos. Whether you're transitioning from a film camera or just starting out with an SLR this workshop will give you the knowledge to take your photography to the next level.
Topics include:
camera settings, white balance, film format, exposure for digital images
Please bring your camera, manual, any images you have questions about.

Middle Grey Photographic Studios is pleased to offer a workshop
covering the fundamentals, techniques, and principles of studio
lighting. Whether you are photographing people, artwork, or still
life, this workshop will give you the knowledge and skills to take
your photography to the next level.
Topics to be covered:
· Strobe vs. tungsten light sources
· Hard light/ soft light and the effect on contrast
· Measuring light (incident vs. reflected meter reading) for
proper exposure
· Using light modifiers to attain a certain desired effect
· Sync speed
· Color temperature
· Basic lighting setups
There will also be shooting time working with a model where you can
practice the skills and techniques you’ve just learned.
All workshops take place at Middle Grey Studio at 77 Cornell Street #114 (aka the Shirt Factory) Kingston, NY 12401. Pre-registration is required. Classes may be cancelled due to low enrollment.
